The Metro Group PLC's flagship project was Metropolitan Hospital which was founded on the belief that it is possible to offer quality, cost effective and affordable healthcare services to all.
Metrovillas Estate was established to serve the growing need for home ownership. Comprising of 34 homes in a gated community.
7 Floor building with 3 Wings; Wing A, Wing B and Wing C, with a state of the art parking (Capacity over 200 spaces).
TMG partnered with an external investor and took on the role of an investor cum landlord and leased out its property to the new entity charged with operating and running of the hospital.
The Metro Group PLC, formerly known as Metropolitan Health Services has been in operation since the year 1994, registered and incorporated under the Kenyan Companies Act Cap 486.
The company is located on the 7th Floor, Metropolitan Hospital Building, and its office is registered under the address P.O. Box 909 – 00515, Nairobi. It is a healthcare investment company that invests in hospitals, real estate, and healthcare infrastructure. TMG Plc has several subsidiaries, including Metropolitan Hospital, Ladnan Hospital, The Metro Group Foundation, and Metro Medico. With over 500 shareholders, the shares are traded internally at the office headquarters in Nairobi. The company is listed as a public limited company on the Nairobi Securities Exchange and recently officially joined the Nairobi Securities Exchange Premium and acceleration program for high-growth companies.
The Metro Group PLC (TMG PLC) is a renowned healthcare investment Company that was founded on July 27, 1994, by a group of young and dynamic healthcare professionals who were passionate about providing top-quality and affordable healthcare services to the country. TMG PLC ownership has evolved over the years with shareholders locally and internationally now standing at 516 members. The shareholders are of different professional backgrounds, which gives the institution a great networking opportunity. The company began its operations as Metropolitan Health Services Limited (MHS). For several strategic reasons including financial risk, TMG separated the Land & Buildings ownership from the hospital, and it remained as Landlord to the Hospital. Metropolitan Hospital Limited was incorporated as a wholly owned subsidiary of TMG to run the Hospital.
The company’s initial project, Metropolitan Hospital, has contributed significantly to the healthcare industry by providing cost-effective and quality healthcare services to patients from all walks of life. Over the years the hospital has grown to a 160-bed, level 5 facility accredited by the Council for Health Service Accreditation of Southern Africa (COHSASA) for maintaining quality standards. In line with its expansion strategy, The Metro Group Plc. recently acquired Ladnan Hospital, which is a healthcare facility located in Pangani. With its 50-bed capacity, Ladnan has been able to provide healthcare services to the local community effectively. The acquisition of Ladnan is a significant milestone for The Metro Group as it aligns with the company’s mission to provide affordable quality healthcare services to everyone. The company has also incorporated The Metro Group foundation, which aims to partner with communities to change lives positively. Through its foundation, The Metro Group has been able to support various community initiatives, including education, healthcare, and environmental conservation.

This was after successfully completing a vigorous evaluation and vetting proccess.

Dr. Gakombe is the Founder and Director of The Metro Group PLC and currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of The Metropolitan Hospital. He is also currently serving as the chairman of the Keya Healthcare Federation. He has also served in the National Economic and social council in Kenya. He studied for a degree in Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB) at the University of Nairobi and did an MBA in strategic management. He has played a key part in the design and development of Hospital Information Management Software (AMS 2000), which is presently being used in multiple hospitals, and E-care, the first digital catering platform in a hospital. He is passionate about the enabling role of ICT in health.
Dr. Robin Mogere has been actively involved in practicing medicine for the last 30 years and holds an MBChB from the University of Nairobi and an FRCS from the Royal College of surgeons Edinburg. He has previously worked at the Coast general hospital, Taita Taveta District hospital. He also went to Guys Hospital, London where he did surgical training and specialization, and afterward went to the University of Nairobi where he was a lecturer in the surgery department HE has also served as a board member in the following institutions; Medical practitioners and dentists board, Nairobi hospital. He is the chairman and a board member of the Metro Group PLC.
Dr. Thagana is a director at the Metro Group PLC and Enkishon Group Limited. He is also a medical officer in the profession working as Obstetrician and Gynecologist. His specialty is in infertility and laparoscopy surgery.
